Terms of Use

Draft terms. UnboundProse is in private beta. These terms describe how we expect the service to work; they have not yet been through formal legal review and will be replaced before general availability. If anything below conflicts with a more specific written agreement we have signed with you, that agreement controls.

1. The service

UnboundProse is a hosted platform that lets authors share manuscripts privately with invited readers and collect feedback. We provide the software and the hosting; you provide the writing.

2. Your account

You are responsible for keeping your account credentials safe and for everything done from your account. Tell us promptly if you suspect your account has been compromised.

3. Your content

You retain copyright in everything you upload. We do not claim ownership of your manuscripts, comments, or annotations. You grant us a narrow licence to store, transmit, and display your content as needed to operate the service — and only to the people you have authorised to see it.

You may export or delete your content at any time. When you delete a manuscript, we remove it from active storage; backup copies may persist for up to 30 days before being overwritten on rolling schedule.

4. Acceptable use

Do not upload content you do not have the right to share. Do not use UnboundProse to harass, defame, or harm anyone. Do not attempt to circumvent the access controls of manuscripts you have not been invited to read.

5. Beta service, no warranty

During the beta, the service is provided as-is. We work hard to keep things running but cannot guarantee uninterrupted availability or that no data will ever be lost. Keep your own copies of any manuscript you would be devastated to lose.

6. Termination

You may close your account at any time. We may suspend or close an account that violates these terms, with notice where reasonable.

7. Changes

We will update these terms before launch. Material changes will be announced by email to active users before they take effect.
