Privacy Policy
Last updated: 18 May 2026 · Draft, pending legal review
What we collect
Just what we need to run the service: your name, email address, the content you upload (manuscripts, chapters, comments, annotations, notes), the reading progress you generate, and limited technical data such as the IP address used to make a request and the timestamp of that request.
We do not run third-party advertising trackers and we do not sell personal data.
Who can see your manuscripts
Only the people you have given access to. Private manuscripts are visible only to readers you have invited by email. Public-with-approval manuscripts are visible to anyone you have approved. Public manuscripts are visible to anyone with the link. You can change this setting from the manuscript settings page.
Who we share data with
- Our hosting and email providers (Railway, Cloudflare, Resend), acting on our instructions and bound by their own privacy commitments.
- Authors of manuscripts you read — they see the annotations and comments you leave on their work, attributed to you.
- Anyone the law requires us to share with, when we are formally compelled.
How long we keep data
We keep account data while your account is active. When you delete content or your account, active copies are removed promptly; backup copies may persist for up to 30 days before being overwritten.
Your rights
You can access, export, correct, or delete your account data at any time from your profile page. If you have trouble with any of that, email hello@unboundprose.com and we'll help.
Children
UnboundProse is not directed at children under 13 (or under 16 in the EEA/UK). We do not knowingly collect personal data from children. If you believe a child has signed up, contact us and we'll close the account.
Changes
We will update this policy before launch. Material changes will be announced by email to active users before they take effect.
